The U.S. government has issued a warning that North Korea is targeting cryptocurrency companies

On Monday, three major U.S. government agencies issued a unified alert about the security dangers of blockchain and cryptocurrency organizations. The FBI, the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) and the U.S. Treasury Department are all involved.

The public notice, known as the "Cybersecurity Advisory," has been posted on CISA's official website. CISA is the federal agency within the U.S. Department of Homeland Security whose mission is to improve the nation's cybersecurity and is responsible for issuing regular hazard alerts.


According to the noteworthy, the U.S. government has discovered hacking groups believed to be funded by the North Korean dictatorship that target cryptocurrency companies. The groups listed in the report - Lazarus Group, APT38, BlueNoroff and Stardust Chollima - represent the so-called Advanced Persistent Threat (APT). This refers to cybersecurity threat actors who can gain unauthorized access to computer systems while remaining undetected for an extended period of time.
